Traveler, there is no road; you make your own path as you walk. I never pursued glory. Acceptance is powerful, it Brings Happiness!
Acceptance, If you break the disapproval chain and find the light of discovering yourself, then a new life begins.
In the early 70’s, I did a drawing on paper and ink. In 2013, I recreated this drawing as a painting on canvas. When I finished and look at the paint, I said to myself …Oh my God that was the way I felt!
This paintings name is “Closet”.
In 2013, just before I recreate the painting “Closet”, I painted a canvas, the idea was to create a piece that will reflect my feelings at the time.
The name of this painting is “Out”.
I then looked at both paintings side by side. I realized that both paintings are telling a story.
Needless to say, this is the path I have walked, there is nothing wrong or right, it is what it is.
Nothing explains better this path than a poem written by Antonio Machado:
“Caminante” – “The Traveler.”
Also, the Spanish songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat, wrote a song base on Machado’s poem.
ANTONIO MACHADO Poet (1875 – 1939) | JOAN MANUEL SERRAT Songwriter (1943) | |
” … | …” Traveler, your footprints are the road and nothing else. Traveler, there is no road; you make your own path as you walk. As you walk, you make your own road, and when you look back you will see the path that you will never travel again. Traveler, there is not a road; only steles on the sea. ” … | …” I love the subtle worlds; weightless and gentle like soap bubbles. I like to see them paint themselves on sun and crimson, fly under a blue-sky shudder suddenly, and break… I never pursued glory. Traveler your footprints are the road, and nothing else. Traveler there is not a path, we make the path as we walk. When walking, your footprint becomes the road and in looking back one sees the pressed road that never will be set foot on again.” … |
This paintings are available as Diptych (both on a single print) or single print of either or both.
Acceptance
Acceptance is powerful, you cannot fight who you are. Moreover, if you are trap rejecting who you are, then you lose control of any other feeling. Breaking the disapproval chain and find the light of discovering yourself, a new life begins. That is why, it is important to me the Closet/Out paintings because they depict the before and after feelings about my life.
